As more and more brands jump on an AR filters bandwagon, Pepsi creates a fun Instagram summer campaign involving AR filters to celebrate the season of sun and fun. Pepsi created hundreds of AR filters for Instagram that could be activated after scanning a QR code to make a selfie or a cool photo and share in the social media using #summergram hashtag.
Through such a campaign, Pepsi tries to target its younger audience of people who are always open to use all of the social media capabilities, including AR filters. The filters are only a part of Pepsi’s campaign that also includes placing gigantic inflated characters from the campaign in several U.S. cities and launch events hosted by celebrities Chrissy Teigen and DJ Khaled.
