Mastercard and Swarovski combine efforts with the AR-application to demonstrate a new line of home decor

Several brands and companies are exploring the possibilities offered by virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). From testing furniture or artwork to customizing a car or footwear according to customer specifications.

The crystal manufacturer Swarovski, however, is going for something more interesting. The Swarovski VR application was created in partnership with credit card company Mastercard and offers the users a journey through a large spacious house packed with items supplied by Swarovski, all of which are available for sale.

Items such as the Swarovski vase are placed in such a way as to show their best angles in virtual lighting, trying to entice users to buy, which can be done from the VR experience using the MasterPass account.

This project is designed to demonstrate the line of home decor by Swarovski, which represents the work of artists such as Thomas Alonso, Aldo Bakker and Zaha Hadid. “Atelier Swarovski Home is a masterfully crafted collection that is most dynamic when experienced first-hand,” said Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board, Swarovski Crystal Business.

“As our e-commerce business continues to grow, this partnership allows consumers a fully immersive shopping opportunity to interact with the product and then purchase seamlessly within the experience.

The cutting-edge VR technology allows consumers to fully realize scale and engage more deeply with design details before making a purchase – anywhere. We’re grateful to have Mastercard join us for this exciting, first-time endeavor.” The application is scheduled to launch on iOS and Android in October 2017.
