Prospective Use of AR in Museums

Imagine yourself as a visitor to a museum who came face to face with an important figure from history, as the Museum of the Sea, Aviation and Space in New York did, creating such an effect using HoloLens (augmented reality glasses). Visitors to the museum can wear a HoloLens headset to meet the life-size hologram of astronaut Dr. May Jamison (the first colored woman in space). In the installation “Overcoming Gravity,” Dr. Jamison talked about her career and that of other women who participated in the space program. Instead of transporting users to another location, AR technology with HoloLens led the astronaut to a physical location right here in the museum.
