IT-Oskar goes to Live Animations’ and Little Hippo’s books with augmented reality

"It's just like to win an Oscar!" This is a big victory not only for us, but for the entire AR industry, — comments Andrey Timoshenko, CEO of Live Animations, on receiving the international award Parents Choice Award.

On June 7, 2018, a series of children's fairy tales with augmented reality from Live Animations and the Little Hippo publishing house received the Parents Choice Award, the prestigious world award in the United States. It is awarded by the non-profit Parents Choice Foundation to mark the best products for children of all ages. Every year, thousands of participants from different countries take part in the competition, the committee chooses the best products in each category. Winners are determined by a committee of educators, scientists, librarians, parents and children.

The child downloads the Hippo Magic application on a smartphone, opens it, draws a camera on the illustration in the book and the characters come alive right from the pages. In addition to deep immersion in the fairy tale, the app allows the reader to make selfies and record a video with heroes and share them with their friends in social networks. Children can interact with the characters: play, color them, help them find hidden objects, compose music, etc.

Thus, the book in the eyes of children becomes not a few hours’ waste instead of playing video games or watching a cartoon, but an exciting process that combines all the favorite children's entertainment.

Also books with Augmented Reality by Live Animations and the Little Hippo became finalists of the Auggie Awards in the Best Game/Toy category. This is an international award, which gives awards for developments in the field of AR/VR.
